Fiona Price Creates Book, Presents Immigrant Experiences Project #WAMiddleSchool #ProjectBasedLearning
2014 Apr 29
Worcester Academy's Fiona Price, Grade 7, of Northborough gave an Immigrant Experiences presentation to parents, fellow students, faculty, and American immigrants at a special event in the library April 23. The project required Fiona to interview an American immigrant, research the country of origin, and create a book about the immigrant. Fiona spoke briefly about the immigrant's experience, followed by a Q&A. The book written by Fiona was then presented to the immigrant. A second copy was added to the Worcester Academy Library Collection.
English teacher Laurin Baldwin and History teacher Kevin McCarthy co-facilitated on the project.
Worcester Academy in recent years has placed increased emphasis on project-based learning in the curriculum as a means to engage students in deeper learning.
