Melina Economos of Worcester Participates in Worcester Academy Play, 'Caucasian Chalk Circle' #WAtheater #Excellence

2015 Mar 25

Worcester Academy's Melina Economos of Worcester, Grade 12, participated in the Winter 2014-15 High School play, Bertolt Brecht's "Caucasian Chalk Circle," staged last month in Worcester Academy's majestic Warner Theater. Melina played the Doctor, Servant, Monk and Peasant in the production.

"Caucasian Chalk Circle" tells the story of a poor servant woman who finds herself responsible for the infant son of the governor during a civil war. As she cares for the child, she forces us to ask the question: "What makes a mother?" Bertolt Brecht's play examines what we truly value as a society.

Melina, along with all of the Worcester Academy students involved in "Caucasian Chalk Circle," had the opportunity to develop invaluable real world skills such as handling responsibility, problem solving, organizing and motivating themselves and others, developing effective interpersonal communication, and gaining self-confidence.
