Worcester Academy's Alan Phung, Grade 12, of Worcester, Participates In Fall Theater Production, 'Shadows On The Wall'

Worcester Academy students presented "Shadows on the Wall," the annual fall show, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, in Warner Theater. The show was a collection of short scary plays befitting their Halloween premieres, including works by students and professional playwrights commissioned by the academy.

Alan Phung, Grade 12, of Worcester, was a member of the cast. He played "Brian" in New Roots.

Plays performed included the following.

"No Accounting For Shadows," Written by the cast, based on a short story by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman

"New Roots," A Commissioned Play Written for Worcester Academy by playwright Josh Levine

"The Yellow Wallpaper," Adapted by Cory Tamler (in collaboration with WA Theater Teacher William Addis and Bakerloo Theatre Project, 2012) and playwright Josh Levine

"What to Expect - When You Are Expecting," Written by the cast

"Five Chairs," A Commissioned Play Written for Worcester Academy by playwright Adam Mathias

All of the Worcester Academy students involved in the play had the opportunity to develop invaluable real world skills such as handling responsibility, problem solving, organizing and motivating themselves and others, developing effective interpersonal communication, and gaining self-confidence.

GUEST ARTIST ADAM MATHIAS

Adam Mathias is Worcester Academy's Guest Artist for the 2014-2015 School Year. He is an award winning New York playwright and musical theater writer. The academy's Gay-Straight Alliance awarded Adam its 2013 Rainbow of Possibilities Award.
