Worcester Academy's Loch Baillie of Worcester Spends Week Living And Learning In Denmark #WAprepared #WAdifference

2017 Jan 23

Worcester Academy Grade 12 student Loch Baillie of Worcester spent a week living and learning in Denmark last semester, exploring the world and leading discussions of importance to both sides of the Atlantic.

Loch was among the more than three dozen Worcester Academy students who stayed with Danish host families and attended classes with their peers at the Haderslev Katedralskole in Haderslev, Denmark. While at the Katedralskole, the WA students joined in school activities and shared their respective cultural heritages with the Danes. Additionally, Worcester Academy students led school assemblies where they presented original research on subjects ranging from the environment, to education, to what it means to be an American.

In addition to Haderslev, WA students spent time engaging in outdoors activities and exploring historic Copenhagen.

The annual Worcester Academy trip to Denmark pairs WA students with their counterparts in Scandinavia with the goal of enabling each school community to broaden its global perspectives as well as its understanding of important issues facing the world. Next fall, Danish students will make their own annual visit to Worcester Academy to explore life in America.

The Denmark trip is one of numerous opportunities that Worcester Academy offers for students to learn outside of the country, including visits to France, China, and Dominican Republic.
