2015 Feb 24

Lance, Worcester Academy's literary magazine, received a First Place Award for the Junior/Senior High School magazine competition from the American Scholastic Press Association.

Among the staff and editors recognized for their contributions to Lance was Rowen Price of Northborough, Grade 12.

While creating the magazine, Rowen learned the fundamentals of publishing, good writing skills, proofreading and editing skills, and the concepts of design and composition.

Lance also received the rank of Excellent in the 2014 National Council of Teachers of English's Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines (PRESLM).

PRESLM recognizes students, teachers, and schools for producing quality literary publications. The program's mission is to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines and to seek excellence in writing and schoolwide participation in production.
